The Road Warden’s Report

Konistag 22st Jahrdrung IC 2513

Reporting Warden: Sergeant Charlotte-Samantha Maiers
For the attention of Captain Heinrich Steele

Our attention was first drawn to the town of Gotheim shortly after sunrise by the merchant Erhard Stumpfegger. He was concerned that Burgomeister Wilhelm Kreigrisch had failed to show for their weekly meeting ahead of the Aschaffen farmer’s market.

Stumpfegger insisted the Burgomeister had not missed the market in over twenty years and believed something must be amiss. Myself and Officer Thalmann decided to pay a visit to Gotheim to ensure everything was in order.

Gotheim is a small farming community focused on cultivation of wheat and goat herding. The village also acts as a hub for nearby farmsteads, helping them to process their harvest and sell it onwards to more distant markets. To the North of the village, a rough stone levee holds back the trapped waters of a forest stream, providing the village with a reservoir and source of power for mills.

As soon as Gotheim came into view it was obvious some terrible atrocity had been visited upon the town. The palisade wall was broken in multiple places, the stone gatehouse all but demolished. The few buildings still standing were on fire.

Venturing closer it became obvious that the levee had also been destroyed and much of the village was under water. Water covered the farmland too, spoiling this entire harvest’s crop.

We found the bodies of villagers. Many torn to pieces, others trampled into the mud and water.

Some of the corpses, both human and goat had great chunks torn out of them, Sigmar alone knows by what, but by Officer Thalmann’s estimation it’s a beast of enormous proportions.

There was no sound of wildlife for a mile around the town. There’s something out there. It’s my opinion that a creature of this size can’t roam the countryside without somebody knowing about it. I’ve increased the presence of the Road Wardens in the surrounding areas. No doubt we’ll know more over the coming days.
