Mist, Stavrul, Hansel, and Bodger,
Greetings from Whitehollow!

Here’s the information I owe you about the Crow’s Nest. I don’t know why you’ll need it, but if it helps you bring down Roric I don’t care. If you see my former boss by the way, please show him the sharp end of a dagger on my behalf.

The Crow’s Nest is an abandoned Bluecoat watch tower, but its history goes back further than that. The tower pre-dates the cataclysm. At some point it was one of the most fortified buildings in the city. This is back in the days when the island of Crow’s Foot was surrounded by a great wall and the main military centre of Doskvol.

It’s not only a place to keep watch, but a way to send signals. It’s still used for that today. It’s not uncommon for there to be a fire ablaze at the top of the tower, the lookouts have alchemical composites they can add to change the colour of the flame. Each colour is a code, and these are changed regularly, so unfortunately you’re on your own with that.

Knowing it would be unassailable during a siege the builders incorporated a few hidden features into the building. The most useful being a supply tunnel that runs all the way to Whitecrown, a way to get goods and people in and out of the city in times of crisis.

There are also huge vaulted rooms deep underground, once used to keep the citizens safe, but Roric uses them to store contraband and prisoners now.

Roric can usually be found in one of two places. The great hall on the ground floor, or his personal quarters just below the cupola. He has his own private balcony that circles the tower and often spends the evening drinking in the open air.

Most of the other floors are taken up by the stores, kitchens and barracks, though most of the Crows live elsewhere in Crow’s Foot. All of the floors are connected by a large spiral staircase that winds its way up the centre of the structure.

Alas, around 400 year ago the tower was owned by a dark and powerful sorcerer. He used ghost magic to ward certain parts of the building, mainly the supply tunnel and the underground vaults, but also the main doors and the rooms used by Roric. If you’re trying to get in without knowing how to disarm them, expect trouble.

If you’re ever in Whitehollow, look me up. I may be able to find you some work!

Lyssa.
