Lady Drake entered the Centuralia Club flanked by two of her bodyguards. She spoke briefly with the doorman who led her to the private lounge where her associates were waiting.
Lord Mora rose from his seat as she entered the room, “Is it true?”, he asked.
“Yes.”, she replied, “Unfortunately it is. But it wasn’t unexpected, I just didn’t think it would be so soon.”.
“Who knew you had them?”, asked Raffello, pouring himself another drink.
“Outside of this room? Nobody!”.
Silence fell on the group while the seven members reflected on recent events. Finally Madame Tesslyn spoke, her voice soft but confident. All the while she continued to stare out of the window. “As Lady Drake said, it’s unfortunate, but not unexpected. I don’t think we need to panic just yet, but there are some questions we need to answer. Who stole the pages? Who has them now?”.
“I suspect the crew who stole them is working for another party.”, said Lady Drake.
“What makes you think that?”, asked Raffelo.
“Whoever’s orchestrating this whole thing won’t want to get their hands dirty. My guess is the crew responsible don’t truly know who they’re working for. Besides, they were hardly the most subtle of thieves. I think they were used because they’re expendable.”
“Okay, let’s find this gang and put some pressure on them. If they can lead us further up the chain we might have a chance to stop this before it gets out of hand.”
“We could use more of the pages as bait.”, suggested Madame Tesslyn.
